The
Treatment Session
1).
First of all, a full history of the animal will be taken
to identify likely problems and to ensure that the animal
would benefit from such treatment.
2).
The treatment and what is involved will be discussed,
giving the owner chance to ask any questions.
3).
A conformation analysis will be carried out to assess
for abnormalities, asymmetries, uneven wear of shoes/claws
etc. A gait analysis will also be carried out to reveal
factors such as lameness, shortened stride or irregular
gait for example.
4).
Palpation to identify injuries (acute/chronic), muscle
spasm, muscle atrophy, joint misalignments etc.

The appropriate physiotherapy or Mc Timoney techniques
will be used.
6).
Aftercare advice will be given to inform owners of what
to expect and how to get the best out of a treatment session.
Aftercare usually involves rest or limited exercise for
several days.
A
treatment session may vary in duration from as little
as 30 minutes to as long as 2 hours depending on a range
of factors such as the amount or severity of problems
found or whether the animal has received such therapies
before.
